ST. MATTHIAS! COME HANG OUT WITH US!!
When you walk through the doors of St. Matthias, you will discover an amazing place! There is a spirit here that is indescribable, exciting, and joy filled! You will be genuinely and warmly welcomed. (We even have a special gift for those who are with us for the first time…shh..it’s a surprise!)
What you will find as you enter the doors is a spirit of love, fellowship, and a desire to serve- to make a real difference in our community. At St. Matthias, we don’t just want to go to church, we also want to BE the church! This is because we believe that God’s Mission has a church known as St. Matthias. We seek to be faithful in making that Mission possible.
We believe that every individual is a beloved child of God, unique in his or her talents and ministry- and that together we are the Body of Christ. Each and every member is valued, respected, and needed. We mean it when we say, “ALL are welcome”.
We are deeply committed to continuing Christian Formation for all ages as well as to ministry in our community and the Diocese with service opportunities that are open to a variety of interests. In addition to these ministries, we celebrate the beauty, gifts, and life that God has given us. Several times a year, you can join in the fun and wonder as you bring your pet to be blessed, search for surprises with your children at the Easter Egg Hunt, or savor the beautiful music our Cultural Arts program offers. Our Youth Group is so much fun that our teens even come to church on a school snow day to hang out, enjoy each other’s company and eat pizza!
We hope you will feel welcome to join us, worship with us, serve with us, and share your passion for ministry with us! We believe you will find that there is something here for everyone. This Website offers a wide scope of information about all of this. Please avail yourself of it. If there are any questions left unanswered, or if you are in need of the services of the Clergy or Staff, please do not hesitate to contact us!
We are glad you found us! Please, come hang out with us!
Your Sister in Faith,
The Rev. Brenda S. Overfield
We are building a warm, Christian community that reaches out to others through: welcoming all seeking a church home; offering quality programs and opportunities for ministry for people of all ages; and deepening our relationship to Jesus through Christian service to others.
Online learning provides a way for parishioners to engage in deepening their faith and the flexibility to work through lessons at a time that fits in with a busy family schedule.
We need to think of education as formation, not just information. James K. A. Smith describes education as a way of shaping what we love, not just what we think. So often we seem to focus on just the cognitive, academic aspects of education, but education is about all of life—not just what we think.
Scripture reminds us that we are to love God with our whole heart and soul and mind, and that we are to pass along the Truth to the next generation. The implication is that this sort of education is about a way of living, and not just about “knowing.” While increasing knowledge is certainly a part of what it means to become educated, a biblical view of teaching and learning is so much more than just enlightening the mind.
We hope these formation opportunities allow to live your life loving God and help you to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ.
